2024 NFL Draft Player Profile: UCLA EDGE Laiatu Latu

If you enjoy redemption stories, UCLA Bruins edge defender Laiatu Latu is someone you will certainly adore.

Latu is having a very successful second career in football after returning from a medical retirement at the University of Washington.

Latu is shredding opposition backfields and sacking quarterbacks in droves in his second season with the Bruins. N

Needless to say, he's making the most of the second chance provided by UCLA.

As we look ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft, here's all you need to know about one of the nation's most potential pass-rushing prospects:

Latu was once a highly sought-after recruit for the Washington Huskies. Latu, who was born in Sacramento and attended Jesuit High School, was the focus of a vigorous recruitment fight between PAC-12 programs.

Latu, a 4-star recruit, finally chose the Washington program and was a member of their 2019 recruiting class.

He played briefly as a true freshman before hurting his neck during 2020 preseason sessions.

Washington revealed in the spring of 2021 that Latu had been medically retired owing to complications from the same neck injury.
