Gareth Edwards' sci-fi epic The Creator, starring John David Washington and Gemma Chan in a universe at war with AI, will open the Beyond Fest in Los Angeles.
The Aero Theatre will show 20th Century Studios' action thriller starring Allison Janney and newcomer Madeleine Voyles.
The closing night picture is Kristoffer Borgli's A24 comedy satire Dream Scenario, starring Nicolas Cage.
At L.A.'s largest genre festival, James Cameron will screen The Abyss from 1989, Michael Mann will screen Manhunter from 1986.
And Malcolm McDowell will present Caligula: The Ultimate Cut.Joe Dante will screen Piranha, Roger Corman will screen The Raven from 1963, and Guillermo del Toro will screen Pacific Rim.
Tyler MacIntyre will debut It's a Wonderful Knife at Beyond Fest's 11th edition from Sept. 26 to Oct. 10.
This year's other films include Andrew Haigh's All of Us Strangers and Garth Davis' psychological drama Foe.
Justine Triet's Palme d'Or winner Anatomy of a Fall, and Kitty Green's outback thriller The Royal Hotel.
“With over 19,000 attendees in 2022, our goal this year was to go bigger while exposing audiences to new filmmakers who represent the future,” Beyond Fest head of programming Evrim Ersoy stated.
